Do you want to see what we are working on this week. Take a look at these little darlings!!

From Grandma to Georgeous!!
Before.... A set of French High Back chairs I bought on Craigslist back in January!

Below is what they looked like after we took all the Fabric off.

Below is new paint and some dreaming Tommy Bahama Fabric I bought at JoAnn's on clearence for $3 a yard back in March!! I knew we needed a big pattern for these stately chairs!!

Don't look at the table between the chairs I just bought it for $19 at a thrift store and I have not had time to paint it yet!! The chairs are almost complete, I am debating nailhead trim or Gimp???? Thinking these are so large that the nail head my be a little over the top.

I will post my final product when it is complete, but not bad for a Sunday afternoon project!!

My style is more French/ Bohemian / Primitive. I will say that Hot Pink is not my favorite color, but it sells and if everyone else loves it & I just love to give folks healthy furniture in a color They love !! Wish I could take all these goodies to the booth today, but as always my family comes 1st and today I am taking my kids to Holiday World!! Happy Sunday!!

Am I the only one who loves the wall decor above this fire place mantel?? Stunning!

I love the wall decor above this fireplace mantle. The matching black mirrors flanking each side really tie it together. Hummmm..... this has me thinking.

Projects in the middle of a much needed makeover!!

Well I can't sleep so I think I will blog a while tonight. I have been mixing paints and playing with different mixtures this week. I have found a love for lime wash, milk paint & chalk paints. I have always adored, French furniture but never could aford it. Now that I have discovered all these great old world  paint options I am able to create different styles that reflect the French style I so dearly love :D The last two nights I have been working on the below projects they are not yet complete and I can't wait till this layer of paint drys so I can finish them up.
All projects look very rough till the last two stages then they come to life with the sanding & waxing.
So here we are tonight.
Before an old dresser in great shape but in need of a little makeover.

I have painted a chalk paint white coat, with a slight pink lime wash on the drawers, I them hand painted the pattern, I let it dry 2 hours under a fan then slightly sanded it and waxed it in a clear wax. I will age the rest of the dresser by sanding and appling a Dark wax tomorrow. Lastly, I have to decide if these knobs will go back on it or, do I go buy new ones. I like to keep the cost down , so I may try to sell it with these handles and see if anyone loves it like me !! I like unusual conversation pieces and that is what I think I have created here!!

Before, A few months ago , I found this bed for $30 at a thrift store in Henderson KY. It did have a thick smoke smell and I cleaned it down twice with murphys oil soap. I have just now pulled it out for a make over.

Last night I applied 1 think layer of chalk paint, then tonight I added a thin layer of  lime wash. I am letting it dry over night, I plan on doing a light sanding job with a 150 gtit sand paper, rough the edges and apply a brown wax. Then place this one in my Guestroom, ready and waiting for our next round of company to come visit!!

I so love this little primative table. I have before pictures but it was  really  a rough table and I just want others to see this sweet table for what it is today. After it finds a new owner I will show you how far this little gem has came.

This table has a great french teal paint job. I then did a french gray lime wash over the top , leaving the brush strokes slighting showing. I sanded the table with a 150 grit sand paper and then did a clear wax. This would be perfect in any room  and I was really thinking about making it an end table in my living room  but it won't fit in the spot I have. So cute, and could even be a childs table. I very much enjoyed working with these colors, so fun!!

Here are a few cool inspirational pieces!!

This is a cool chair for a unique piece. We just ordered some chevron fabric like this for a bamboo chair that is going in our living room. Hope it turns out as cool as this one!
This is a great restored Desk/ Vanity. You don't find these little gems to work on often but boy are the results great!

Wingback Chair

I have been working on this chair for a few weeks. The chair itself was not too bad, but the cushion.......that's another story. This was my first attempt to fabricate a new cushion, foam and all. I thought i had it all figured out. I just traced the old fabric as a pattern for my new fabric, measured the side-piece, and sewed it all together. It took me approximately 5 hrs to do that, my minimal sewing experience from back in Jr. High was just barely enough to manage, but it worked. I was so happy and proud of my new cushion! I went upstairs to put it in the chair, so I could admire my handywork. Much to my dismay, it was too small. It looked very bad sitting in a beautiful chair. I was pretty upset, all that work, time, and frustration (trying to remember/relearn how to sew). Not to mention, the zipper looked terrible. So, I had to throw that one to the wind, and start all over again. I went to the store and bought more fabric at $17.99/yd, yeah I know, expensive mistake. This time, I cut the cushion to fit the chair first, leaving appr. 1/2" all the way around for dakron. Then I traced my pattern off of it. I also learned a few tricks on sewing the zipper. I also sewed the top and side pieces, then placed it over the cushion to make sure it fit before sewing the bottom on. This one only took me about 3 1/2 hrs, much improvement from the first time. This one turned out great! Its sitting in our bedroom now as a reading chair.
