Well I can't sleep so I think I will blog a while tonight. I have been mixing paints and playing with different mixtures this week. I have found a love for lime wash, milk paint & chalk paints. I have always adored, French furniture but never could aford it. Now that I have discovered all these great old world paint options I am able to create different styles that reflect the French style I so dearly love :D The last two nights I have been working on the below projects they are not yet complete and I can't wait till this layer of paint drys so I can finish them up.
All projects look very rough till the last two stages then they come to life with the sanding & waxing.
So here we are tonight.
Before an old dresser in great shape but in need of a little makeover.
I have painted a chalk paint white coat, with a slight pink lime wash on the drawers, I them hand painted the pattern, I let it dry 2 hours under a fan then slightly sanded it and waxed it in a clear wax. I will age the rest of the dresser by sanding and appling a Dark wax tomorrow. Lastly, I have to decide if these knobs will go back on it or, do I go buy new ones. I like to keep the cost down , so I may try to sell it with these handles and see if anyone loves it like me !! I like unusual conversation pieces and that is what I think I have created here!!
Before, A few months ago , I found this bed for $30 at a thrift store in Henderson KY. It did have a thick smoke smell and I cleaned it down twice with murphys oil soap. I have just now pulled it out for a make over.
Last night I applied 1 think layer of chalk paint, then tonight I added a thin layer of lime wash. I am letting it dry over night, I plan on doing a light sanding job with a 150 gtit sand paper, rough the edges and apply a brown wax. Then place this one in my Guestroom, ready and waiting for our next round of company to come visit!!
I so love this little primative table. I have before pictures but it was really a rough table and I just want others to see this sweet table for what it is today. After it finds a new owner I will show you how far this little gem has came.
This table has a great french teal paint job. I then did a french gray lime wash over the top , leaving the brush strokes slighting showing. I sanded the table with a 150 grit sand paper and then did a clear wax. This would be perfect in any room and I was really thinking about making it an end table in my living room but it won't fit in the spot I have. So cute, and could even be a childs table. I very much enjoyed working with these colors, so fun!!
